Two of the most beautiful cities in Crimea peninsula are Sevastopol and Balaklava.




Sevastopol was closed city to the ordinary people until 1996, now it attracts a lot of visitors with rich history and a great amount of sightseeings. Founded in the late 18-th century as the main base of Russian fleet in the Black Sea, it has retained many nice mansions and estates of that time. However, there are layers of history and far more ancient: the famous reserve Chersonese, medieval town of Inkerman, Genoese fortress. Each era has left its mark in Sevastopol, so it is no wonder that the city’s museums storerooms are filled with artifacts.

Nowadays Black sea coast of Sevastopol meets its guests with the museum of Black sea fleet, Malakhov’s kurgan complex, historic boulevard, unique Georgievskiy monastery on Fiolent bay.

                    Hero City of Sevastopol is located in the south- western part of Crimea region, in 85 km from Simferopol , on the banks of Sevastopol bay .

The city was settled out by the Greek colonists in the V century BC. Hersonissos lasted until the XV century: about 2 thousand years. Today it is the National Nature Reserve , a monument of archeology .




Sevastopol city founded as a naval fortress in southern Russia in 1783 » was famous for such great names as AV Suvorov and Prince GA Potemkin .

Sevastopol was marine fortress almost in all wars held in Crimea. They are Crimean war, World War II. According to historic facts main Sevastopol wasn’t conquered by the sea in both these wars.





Another city which is worth of visiting is Balaklava, Crimean resort town. It’s located on the coasts of unique bay in the southwest of Black sea port in Crimea .Its population is about 19 thousand people. The length of Balaklava Bay is 1.5 km away . This is one of the most beautiful bays of the Crimea and also the most convenient place to anchorage in the whole Black Sea coast . The depth of the bay is 17 meters , which was the main reason to base here one of the secret facilities — underground plant for repairing submarines . Today, «Object 825 GTS » is  declassified and is the main water museum, it is one of the main military attractions for tourists coming for Crimea vacations.
Balaklava is also unique for its climate which is Mediterranean, with elements of subtropical one. The proximity of the sea and the narrow coastal line, protected by the Crimean Mountains, causes minor fluctuations in annual temperatures . Winters are mild and summers are fresh. The swimming season lasts from mid-point to the beginning of June and finishes in October . The water is heated to 27 ° C (in August) . Storms are rare, due to the florid form bay Balaklava is protected against wind and weather. Balaklava is the abundance of monuments, rich history and tradition .
